MOST PREVIEW: WorldSSP prepares for a melee at Most with slim margins separating the top riders in the Championship standings
Czechia once again will play host to a stunning pair of World Supersport races as the category arrives to the paddock
The FIM Supersport World Championship is getting into stride as they make final preparations before the beginning of action on track this weekend, where lights will go out on Autodrom Most’s Czech Round. A pair battle for supremacy atop the rest of the pack, but the rest of the grid are just behind them, and at this early juncture, truly anything is possible in what’s been a World Supersport season for the ages so far.
MASIA LOOKING FOR REVENGE: The #5 had a catastrophic points haul last round, leaving him within striking distance but plenty of work ahead of him
Albert Arenas snatched the provisional crown from his countryman Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) last round and has been rounding into his best form of the season so far; over the last two rounds, he’s fallen no further down the final timesheets than P2. Looking for his revenge after an unfortunate Hungarian Round where he was unable to complete his recovery from an eighth and ninth row start to the weekend’s races after crashes in both the Tissot Superpole session and Race 1. Masia is currently 33 points behind the title leader, and with a win here under his belt last season, expect the #5 to throw the kitchen sink at the Championship-leading #75.
ZXMOTO BACK ATOP THE ROSTRUM: The Chinese manufacturer’s tally grew to three in their rookie season last round
Just behind the Spaniards fighting for P1, Valentin Debise (EASTROC ZXMOTO Factory Evan Bros Racing) continues to pilot his ZXMOTO 820RR with precision as he started last round with a win before suffering a second-lap tech issue to end his Hungarian weekend early. He and his first/year Chinese manufacturer will look to continue turning heads this round at Most. 2026 so far for Philipp Oettl (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team) has been a revelation as the German Ducati rider broke through at Assen to win his first WorldSSP Race, and while historically he hasn’t performed particularly well here, he will look to apply the clear step he’s been showing this season this time in Round 5. After what was a disappointing start to the 2026 season, Can Oncu looks to have righted the ship, making his way onto the podium in both races last round for the first time this season. The wind may be blowing in the Turk's direction as he arrives to Most. The #61 won a race here in 2025, and while he sits in fifth place currently, he hovers nine points out from P3. French Rider Lucas Mahias (GMT94 Yamaha) hit his stride at Portimao, where he took his first podium of the season, then followed it with pole position at Assen. Since then, apart from a fifth place in Assen’s opening race, he hasn’t finished back within the top eight. He hopes to ride positive memories back to the front here, after a 2025 double podium.
GROWING IN GREEN: Alcoba continues to carry the flag for Kawasaki
Currently riding in P7, Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) has been fighting hard for his spot in the top ten, after struggles for both him and his two-time WorldSSP World Champion teammate, Dominique Aegerter, earlier in the season. Despite that, Alcoba took home his biggest points haul from a single round last weekend, in large part thanks to his P4 effort in Race 1, his best result since 2025’s penultimate race at Jerez. He has finished top ten in every race this season, but perhaps now he can look further up the order at Most. Roberto Garcia (GMT94 Yamaha) started the season strong in the midst of the top five, before a pair of DNFs followed by a crash out from the lead in Balaton’s Race 1. He righted his wrong and took P3 in Race 2, reinvigorating his campaign as he came to Most for the first time in WorldSSP.
GARCIA GETS THE MONKEY OFF HIS BACK: The Spaniard earned his first WorldSSP podium last time out
Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph Factory Racing) has gotten his season back on track after just nine points earned over the first two rounds. Most will be a test for the Brit, as he has never taken better than eighth place here, but it will also be an opportunity to continue turning over new leaves, currently tied for P8 with Garcia in the Championship. Matteo Ferrari (WRP Racing) is a single point behind P8 after Balaton Park. He showed off the pace he hadn’t shown since his maiden WorldSSP round. He will look to keep the irons hot at Most to fuel his climb up the Championship order.
